We just launched our newest task on Perle Labs: TextHunt!

AI can write fluently, but that doesn’t mean it understands context. To truly grasp language, models need to learn how to recognize the details that carry meaning.

‍

In this task, you’ll help teach AI to notice what matters inside text by highlighting key information within short passages. Each accurate annotation helps build the foundation for stronger reasoning, interpretation, and understanding.

‍

It’s a small action with a big impact and part of Perle’s mission to train AI through human judgment, context, and real-world understanding.

What You’ll Do

In this task, you’ll work with short paragraphs of text and identify the country mentioned within each one. Here’s how it works:

‍

Step 1: Read the short passage provided.
Step 2: Highlight the country name you find in the text.
Step 3: You can re-highlight as many times as you want before submitting.
Step 4: Click Submit once you’re confident in your answer. You’ll immediately see whether you got it right or not.

‍

The interface is straightforward and built for clarity, making it easy to review and refine your highlight before submitting. Every annotation goes through a quality assurance pipeline to ensure accuracy.

Why This Matters

Models can read text, but they do not instinctively know which parts matter. They learn by observing how humans recognize names, references, and other identifying details in context.

‍

By contributing to this task, you are:

• Helping teach AI how to identify key information inside text
  
• Improving the accuracy of entity recognition and referencing
  
• Strengthening the foundation for reliable retrieval and reasoning
  
• Shaping how AI interprets and communicates information in real-world usage

Where to Access the Task

If you are already onboarded to the Perle Labs beta platform, you will see the Text Annotation task appear on your contributor dashboard as your access batch opens.

Participation in this project is quality-gated. To take part, you’ll need to:

‍

• Have completed the foundational platform tasks
  
• Have built up your contributor score through previous submissions

‍

If you’ve already reached that stage, check your dashboard for project notifications. If you don’t see the task yet, your access will open in a later phase.
